Penwortham Broad Oak

Primary School

Uniform

We believe that a school uniform is important and has been chosen with health and safety and cost issues in mind.

  • It looks smart
  • Wears well
  • Contributes to a sense of belonging
  • Gives a common purpose
  • Fosters a feeling of pride and equality

The uniform consists of:

School jumper or cardigan, white polo shirt, slate grey trousers or shorts, skirt or pinafore and sensible black shoes (not trainers).

A burgundy and white gingham dress can also be worn in the warmer weather during the Spring and Summer terms.

Please speak to the school office for more details about our main suppliers who are currently 'Justs' of Kingsfold Drive, Penwortham. Non badged items such as polo shirts and grey trousers can be purchased from most high street stores. Badged items such as jumpers and cardigans are available from uniform suppliers.

Please add name tags to all clothing so that clothes found can be returned to the owners.

Jewellery should not be worn at school. If ears are pierced, we ask that the children do not wear earrings to school. No other types of facial piercing are permitted. For safety children must be able to remove earrings for PE, swimming and any other activity as the staff are not able to assist. If a child is not able to remove earrings without assistance, they can not be worn to school.

Children are not allowed to wear make up of any sort to school.

The school encourages pupils to have a smart overall appearance. Where a pupil’s appearance has a direct impact on children’s welfare, behaviour and/or education for the individual or class, the school may take steps to rectify the situation. The school reserves the right to apply the System of Care to implement this policy.

Additionally, for very clear Health and Safety reasons, pupils are not allowed to wear shoes with a heel. Students who attend school with unacceptable shoes will be required to change into safer footwear (provided by the school) and replace the shoes as soon as possible.

PE KIT

For health and safety reasons it is important that children are properly dressed for any physical activity. Our uniform for PE is as follows:

  • White T-shirt
  • Maroon shorts
  • Plain trainers

Children should come to school wearing PE kit, with their normal school jumper or cardigan, on their PE days (twice a week). Please see the class pages for information on which days.

Children may wear black tracksuit bottoms over their PE kit on colder days.

Children may wear a plain black hoodie over their PE kit on colder days.
Pupils will require either swimming trunks (or shorts above the knee) or a swimsuit, and a swimming cap (with name on) from Year 3 onwards.
