PE (Physical Education)
PE at Broad Oak Primary School
We offer fun and challenging PE lessons that help children stay active, healthy, and confident. Our curriculum includes a wide range of sports and activities such as:
- β½ Invasion games (like football and rugby)
- π Net & wall games (like tennis and volleyball)
- βΎ Strike and field games (like cricket and rounders)
- π€Έ Gymnastics and dance
- π Swimming
- π§ Outdoor and adventure activities
Children have two PE lessons each week, learning two different sports every half term. We also offer a variety of after-school clubs and workshops, including archery, Kung-Fu, golf, skipping, and more - giving children the chance to try something new and build their fitness.
π Competitive Sports & Leadership Children can take part in local sports competitions, which help build teamwork, confidence, and leadership. Each year, selected Year 6 pupils become Sports Leaders, helping run lunchtime clubs, Sports Day, and other events.
π Swimming Focus We prioritise swimming, especially since many children don’t get the chance to swim outside school. Year 3 pupils swim all year, and we offer extra sessions for other KS2 children to boost their skills.
π Expert Coaching To give children the best experience, we bring in specialist coaches and work with local sports clubs to offer high-quality teaching and a wide variety of activities.
