Broad Oak recently took part in the South Ribble "Dance From the Heart" event. More than 6,000 pupils from 36 schools across the borough were involved and the children have spent the last few weeks getting to grips with the eight-minute routine featuring the Charleston, disco and moves from Thriller and Gangnam style.
Council sports coaches visited each of the schools over the last few months, teaching the dance to young leaders, who then passed on the moves to the rest of the school. Our contribution was filmed last Friday and thankfully the weather held for us. The coaches have now created a video for the council’s Facebook page so the children could brush up their moves at home.

Guild Hall Friendship Evening - 23rd June 2015
Yesterday, our Year 4 children took part in the "Celebration of Friendship" at the Preston Guild Hall along with eleven other schools from the South Ribble area. Broad Oak performed a dance routine to the song "Hot, Hot, Hot" , inspired by our Caribbean theme for our Penwortham Gala float.
The children looked brilliant in their colourful outfits and their performance was superb, despite the complicated dance steps. Their behaviour was impecable and they were all an absolute credit to the school. As a reward, they all had ice creams after their tea at McDonalds. All in all it was a very enjoyable and unforgetable experience for the children, but a very long day for all concerned.
Have a look at some of the pictures from yesterday afternoon and last night's performance.
