Year 3

Welcome to Year 3!

Miss Meredith and Miss Newton are our teachers in Year 3 this year and is assisted by Mrs Roberts.

PE Days

The children need to come dressed in PE kit on Monday and Tuesday.

At the beginning of the year we would usually hold a 'Meet the Teacher' afternoon, however, in the current circumstances, this unfortunately cannot go ahead.

Please see the attached Powerpoint for lots of information regarding your child's time in Year 3.

Handwriting skills

The children have been working hard on their handwriting- look how neat this work is!

The excitement is real in Year 3! Our first four children have gained their handwriting pens! Keep up the beautiful handwriting and presentation.

HURST GRANGE HERITAGE LOTTERY BID – JUNE 2019

Towards the end of the last school year, Year 3 went to the park for a very special reason.

They had been asked to help with the second Heritage Lottery bid for the renovation of the Hurst Grange Coach House and surrounding garden.

Despite the rather damp weather, the children were enthusiastic to find out more about the project and the part the school will play in the bid for further funds to create a wildlife garden for visitors to enjoy once the buildings have been renovated.

They were impressed by the size of the plot, which gives scope for a huge amount of creativity.

They then spent the afternoon bug hunting in the diverse habitats of the Hurst Grange Park to give them inspiration for the work on their bid. Then it was back to school to create a portfolio to showcase their ideas.

The children loved working on this project and came up with some superb ideas.

They researched sculpture ideas, planting and garden design. They then collated the ideas into a huge portfolio before creating a 3D model showcasing their ideas.

Watch this space to see how the bid progresses!
