Welcome to Year 1
Have a look at what we get up to throughout the year. We will work hard but we will have lots of fun too! Mrs Bush is our teacher and Mrs Briffett is our teaching assistant along with Mrs Doyle.
Take a look below at what we will be up to in Year 1 this term.
Key Stage 1 Science Display
The children in Year One and Year Two have both completed science topics this half term on plants. Through sensory observations and hands on investigations, the children can now talk about plants from seed to flower.
Spring Term 2 in Year One
This term our topic is 'Growth and Green Fingers' we will be looking at the science of plants, botanical artists in Art and healthy food snacks in Design Technology.
Spring Term 2
Healthy Salad Snack Pots March 2022
Our Spring Walk March 2022
World Book Day 2022
We had a lovely day dressed as our favourite book characters, we used coins to pay for our favourite books in the Year 1 book shop. We also worked collaboratively to create a giant Elmer using multilink.
The children need to come dressed in PE kit on Thursdays and Fridays.
At the beginning of the year we would usually hold a 'Meet the Teacher' afternoon, however, in the current circumstances, this unfortunately cannot go ahead.
Please see the attached Powerpoint for lots of information regarding your child's time in Year 1.
Our First Few Weeks in Year 1
Wow! We are having such a great time in Year 1. We really loved getting outside to do our maths this term and have been weighing, measuring and finding number bonds to ten. As part of our geography topic, we have been looking at the United Kingdom and learning about different traditional, regional foods. We have tasted Scottish shortbread and even made Welsh rarebit. In PE, we even had a martial arts taster session.
OUR FIRST FEW DAYS IN YEAR 1
The children have settled really well into Year 1 and are producing some lovely work. We have been looking at neat presentation of our work as well as producing some lovely self-portraits.
