Last year Broad Oak were extremely proud to win the Leyland Truck Trail competition in association with Leyland Trucks and Stem First and the winning truck design now has pride of place at the front of the school. Last week the six girls who were in the winning team came back from High School to visit us along with Stem First, to make a video of their achievement.
Jess, Annabella, Mia and Anna now attend Penwortham Girls’ High School, whilst Emily and Lauren are at Priory Academy. The girls were interviewed about their design and how the competition has opened their eyes to science, maths and engineering. Stem First had also interviewed workers from Leyland Trucks, from the managing director to apprentices and the video is to be rolled out to schools in South Ribble to get more children interested in maths and science. It was great to see the girls and see how they have matured and flourished since leaving Broad Oak. Well done girls. Keep up the good work.
