The subject of History centres on exploring and researching the actions of people and events in the past, which enriches children’s natural curiosity. It also enhances and supports their learning in other areas of the curriculum, such as Maths and Geography. At Broad Oak, knowledge and understanding will be developed through the relevant teaching of the following key skills: chronology; events, people and changes; interpretation; enquiry; and communication. We aim to provide our pupils with the tools to appreciate the world that has gone before them and to develop their own ideas, beliefs and values.
